Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is a hands-on method of health care that addresses the underlying cause of your health problem. In contrast, conventional medicine uses drugs or surgery to cover up the symptoms of your condition.

Since the medication doesn’t address the cause of the symptoms, they may resolve temporarily, but the underlying condition still exists. That means your symptoms will keep coming back, and the problem will worsen over time. With natural chiropractic care, we locate the area that’s causing the problem and correct it at its source.

At Great South Bay Chiropractic, we’ve been helping patients unlock their innate health potential for forty years—and we’d love to help you, too!

Our Approach to Care: What to Expect

Our first phase of care is to relieve your pain. The second phase is more corrective, helping to restore optimal alignment to the spine segments and motion to the joints.

Your care will be customized to your specific needs and goals. This will often include muscle stim and moist heat to relax the muscles. Then your chiropractor will use a handheld device called the Thumper, a percussive tool that loosens up the spine muscles.

Next, they’ll use an adjusting instrument called the ArthroStim®, which uses very high-speed adjustments that stimulate receptors to tell the brain to address that area. And finally, they’ll use traditional manual adjustments to move any segments of the spine that need to be adjusted into proper alignment.

Offering Spinal Decompression With the DRX 9000

We specialize in care for herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, and other disc issues using the state-of-the-art DRX 9000 spinal decompression table.

When you receive this therapy, you’ll lie on the computerized table, which gently stretches the spine, and then releases repeatedly for about 20-25 minutes. This action causes negative pressure within the disc, which pulls the bulging disc back into place while pumping moisture and nutrients into the disc to promote healing. Call our practice today to schedule a consult to find out how spinal decompression may help you.
